CALmoto & Doc Wong Announce March GS/Dual Sport ClinicMarch 2008 Cal BMW Triumph and Doc Wong present a Dual Sport Clinic for Larger Bikes on March 21 and March 23!We're holding another Dirt Clinic for those of you who want to take your GS's on some real adventure rides! Doc Wong and Kari Prager of California BMW have teamed up to create a special dirt clinic for bigger dualsport bikes and newbie dirt riders.
Doc has his new R1200GS and this clinic will be geared towards the bigger dual sport bikes from GS's to F650's... the larger KTM bikes too... XR650L's, KLR 650's, and the like. Complete beginners may bring smaller bikes. The dirt drills to are designed to accommodate the more newbie dirt rider. If you're more of an intermediate or advanced dirt rider, we'd appreciate any help you'd like to give in demonstrating, leading a group, etc. This clinic is held on two separate days. Please note: Friday night's talk is a prerequisite to Sunday's drilling and ride. You must come on Friday to sign releases and get all the information on what we are doing Sunday. Cost: A $20.00 donation to the Clear Creek Legal Defense Fund / Blue Ribbon Coalition, to help keep the California dirt riding areas open. >> Part A: Friday evening March 21, 7:15 PM will be a 1 1/2 hour talk at: California BMW/Triumph in Mountain View Coming to the lecture is essential and required for you to be at Sunday's drills and ride. Doc and Kari will be going over vital information and demonstrations of the drills. Of course you'll be doing the drills at your own level on Sunday. Topics covered range from cornering to balance, sliding, braking and wheelie-ing your bike. >> Part B: Sunday from 9:am to 3:pm will be the clinic at Hollister Hills (State Vehicular Recreation Area-SVRA) where those drills covered on Friday night will be practiced until lunch. After lunch we will break up into groups based on skill level and ride some of the larger, easier dirt roads of Hollister Hills SVRA. Be there by 8:15 or so to get a good parking spot and make yourself ready to ride in the dirt! Remove mirrors and windshields as you see fit, you can stack them on Kari's trailer. Kari Prager of CalBMW/Triumph will be leading the group of larger dual-sport bikes on beginning to intermediate trails and Doc Wong will lead the smaller bikes on the more difficult trails. More experienced ride leader volunteers are needed, so let us know if you'd be willing to lead a group in the afternoon. TO REGISTER: E-mail Doc ASAP at: Docwong@docwong.com (limited to the first 40 riders, so if you register and can't make it, please let me know ASAP as there will be a waiting list) and please cc Kari@CALmoto.com so we can have an appropriate number of chairs and refreshments at the lecture evening. Anyone is welcome to come to the evening "Dirt Riding Workshop-Talks and Demonstrations" part of the clinic. This is not limited in numbers, however the practical "Dirt Ride Drills and Dirt Ride" part of the clinic is limited to 40 riders. WHAT TO BRING TO THE DIRT CLINIC
