Street Triple: 675cc of pure, naked aggression. Genetic engineering by Triumph.
The countdown is over! The new Street Triple will be officially unveiled at Triumph Tridays in Neukirchen, Austria, this Saturday, June 30th, followed by the World Press Launch in Lake Garda, Italy, between July 2nd and 11th, during which 75 journalists from around the globe will have the opportunity to test the bike for the very first time. Combining the aggressive streetfighter styling of its older brother, the Speed Triple, with the 675cc engine, chassis and performance of the award-winning Daytona 675, the Triumph Street Triple is set to become the most desirable naked middleweight motorcycle in the market. The Street Triple's aluminum frame and swingarm come directly from the Daytona 675, while the Nissin two pot sliding calipers with sintered pads (the same material as used on the Daytona 675) give braking power that is top of its class. The lightweight five-spoked wheels also come straight from the Daytona 675, with Dunlop Sportmax Qualifier tires fitted as standard (120/70 ZR17 front and 180/55 ZR17 rear). Approved options are the Pirelli SuperCorsa Pro and the Bridgestone BT014 G. Lean and agile, the Street Triple is equipped with Kayaba suspension front and rear, with rear preload adjustment, giving class leading handling. The low dual seat and new footpegs and handlebars provide a comfortable riding position for rider and pillion without jeopardising the aggressive streetfighter styling of the bike. The headlights echo the distinctive units used on the Speed Triple, while the comprehensive instrument console shares the same functionality as that on the Daytona 675 but is restyled to fit neatly within the lines of the Street Triple. Add to this a great price - just $7,999 - and you have a bike that's accessible, desirable and great fun for both new and experienced riders alike. The Street Triple is probably one of the most important bikes Triumph has ever launched as it offers an accessible new entry point into the Triumph urban sports range. Feedback from a select few journalists who have ridden the bike pre-production has been fantastic and we are very confident that this new model will be a huge success. Check out the bike at the Street Triple microsite, www.triumphstreettriple.com, the full version of which recently went live. Key Specifications:
Accessories:As with all Triumph bikes, the Street Triple Accessory range was designed and developed alongside the motorcycle itself and offers a range of options for tuning performance, enhancing the practicality of the bike or creating a dramatic new style. Accessories include a neat, aerodynamic fly screen (pictured above) for wind deflection, an easy-to-fit color-matched seat cowl for a sleek tail end finish and a sharp belly pan (pictured above), which protects the engine while complementing the naked style. Following on from the success of the accessory exhaust system for the Speed Triple, Triumph has again collaborated with Arrow Special Parts to develop a 3-into-1 'Low Boy' exhaust system for the Street Triple. Offered for Closed Circuit Competition use only, the system is manufactured from stainless steel with a carbon fiber end cap and provides performance gains throughout the torque curve coupled with a weight saving of 17lbs compared to the standard silencers. Rear bodywork finishers are also offered to provide a clean finish for the underside of the rear end when fitted with the 'Low Boy' style silencer. A pair of Arrow slip-on silencers (pictured above) will follow in early 2008. Continuing the performance theme, a number of high spec carbon fiber parts are available for the Street Triple, including tank pad, upper & lower chain guard and front fender. On the practical side, two styles of magnetic tank bag are available. These bags can be securely fitted or removed in seconds and feature Scotchlite reflective panels for improved visibility, clear map pockets, integrated waterproof rain covers and large zippper pull tabs for easy use when wearing gloves. Other essentials include a gel seat for additional comfort, which features double stitch detail and a premium finish, rear hugger for protecting the underside of the bike, a grab rail for the pillion passenger and a smoked flyscreen visor for added wind protection while giving the Street Triple a more aggressive appearance. Price and Availability:The Street Triple will have an MSRP of $7,999. The Street Triple will be available for ordering using the Priority Reservation Program (PRP) from today until September 30th. We expect to begin delivering PRP units near the end of September, and stocking orders will be filled once the PRP orders are all fulfilled. |
